Reusable mouthpiece OASIS

Our client specializes in equipment and ingredients for hookah lounges. They realized that disposable mouthpieces are not eco-friendly, don't look great, and aren't very convenient in social settings. They decided to create their own reusable personal mouthpiece and reached out to us. It should be almost like a piece of jewelry, something that’s always a pleasure to carry with you.
Project Story
Design
We created many different sketches, exploring shapes and concepts. We aimed for a balance of ruggedness and elegance to suit both men and women. We eventually settled on a "fang" shape and spent a lot of time weaving the leather lacing into the form in a way that looks organic. This approach allowed us to create an interesting shape where the lacing doesn’t extend beyond the form, keeping it clean and sleek. We explored different color options, but the most popular one is black, as it has a unisex appeal.
Engineering and Production
It might seem that the shape is simple and doesn't involve much engineering, but that's not the case. Inside, there's a rather ingenious solution to ensure the shape holds, and our engineer spent a lot of time communicating with the production team, convincing them to do it the right way, not just how they thought it should be done.

The mouthpiece is made of metal and silicone with a leather cord. It's designed for multiple uses. The batch consisted of 50,000 units. The engineering was meticulously refined up to the industrial prototype. The product has been launched into mass production and is now on the market.
